University of Phoenix Honors Sewell Elememtary School Students & Principal

The University of Phoenix Las Vegas campus director Kathy Gamboa, recognized the Principal of Sewell Elementary School Dr. Carrie Buck, for transforming an "at risk" elementary school into one of the most recognized elementary schools in Nevada. She entered into the room red carpet style and all the kids showered her with glitter. Both ladies were interviewed by local Fox 5 and also local CBS reporter Dave McCann.

NCRG Inductee Ceremony

The National Center for Responsible Gaming had their Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremony at The Venetian Hotel. It was a great turn out and there was entertainment and everyone enjoyed themselves. The inductees from left to right were The Blue Man Group, Charlie Palmer, Sheldon G. Adelson and Dr. William Eadington.

Luxor Event

The Luxor Hotel is doing a campaign with their employees of the month and their 'A' Players along with other employees talking about the different restaurants, attractions, shows etc around the hotel. They're incorporating photographs and video interviews and instead of doing the usual portraits, I got to have some fun with their pictures.

Halloween Event at Neiman Marcus

Peatbog Faeries!

Just got back from British Columbia, Canada and saw the mighty Peatbog Faeries, an awesome Celtic fusion band and they were outstanding. I got to meet them after the show and they were super cool and yes that's me in a kilt and high tops woo hoo!

Catherine was so much fun to photograph. She wanted some grungy, rock and roll type pictures and her hair and make up artist did a great job. She's done modeling and print work before so she knew exactly how to pose. I can't wait to get more pictures of her.

Carluccio's Restaurant

I occasionally shoot for Big Dream Marketing who publishes several magazines such as The Restaurant Guide and Las Vegas Bride. I recently shot some pictures of Carluccio's restaurant right next to the Liberace Museum. They have a room in the back with a bar that's shaped like a grand piano.

Halloween Thrilla Boxing Match at The TI

I photographed the first ever boxing match at the TI on Halloween night. Don King Productions in association with Phil Ruffin, the owner of the TI. Mr Ruffin and his beautiful wife were there for the event. Mike Tyson stopped by and Clint Holmes could be seen in the audience enjoying the fight also.

My folks were in town for a week and they love to hike so we hit a couple of trails, one near Callville Bay at Lake Mead called the Anniversary Narrows and I finally hiked all the way to the north peak of Red Rock! Talk about some spectacular views!

Mastec

I got to do a different kind of shoot for Mastec. They are one of the largest infrastructure companies that do everything from installing satellite dishes, pulling fiber optic cable through conduit, erecting utility poles to rebuilding telephone systems after hurricanes. We had to work at night on one of the busiest intersections in Las Vegas at Flamingo Blvd and Las Vegas Blvd. They are a great bunch of guys to work with and we got some really good shots of them working with their equipment with scenes of the Strip in the background for their PR shots.

Lindo Michoacan

I got to do a food shoot at Lindo Michoacan’s restaurant with several other talented photographers. It was so much fun and tasty too! We all stayed after the shoot and had some wonderful food and conversation. The shrimp ceviche is to die for!

Anica & Mario's Wedding

I am so glad that Anica and Mario agreed to do all their pictures in O’Callaghan Park before the ceremony. The time of day was perfect and I even got a few “avante garde” type photos right before the sun set. They had their reception at the Henderson Convention Center and all went well. They are a lovely couple and easy to work with.

Link Technologies

I did a shoot for Link Technologies and it was the meeting of Russian and American nuclear scientists. It was very interesting and fun. I photographed some speakers in the morning and in the afternoon, we all met at the Atomic Testing Museum. I had never been there before but it was really cool. They had a theater that showed the actual atomic testing with sound and all, it was really something. It was so great to see Russians and Americans laughing, discussing, having lunch together. It’s a long way from the Cold War.

Maria & Mike's Wedding

Maria & Mike were so much fun! Lots of joy and laughter. Maria's dress was embroidered by her Grandmother and it was just beautiful! I've never seen anything like it. When the music started, the dance floor wasn't empty for even one moment so needless to say we got lots of great shots. They were married at the Las Vegas National Golf Club which is a really great place for pictures. The weather and lighting were perfect!

Esther and Bill had a beautiful backyard wedding with a great view of the valley. This was something a little different...everyone was barefoot and Bill even sang a song during the ceremony! Esther wore a gorgeous lace jacket, I suppose you would call it, over her wedding dress and it was stunning. It was a cool crisp night and everyone enjoyed the party. Esther and Bill enjoyed their honeymoon in Fiji and I can't wait to hear about it!

Chris and Margie's ceremony was held at University Methodist Church and everything went very well. I had never shot there before but what an adorable church! The reception was held at Black Mountain Country Club and it was a little windy, as often happens in this town, but the temperature was perfect. We got some beautiful sunset shots and it looked like everyone had a blast at the reception.

All the ladies were wearing these beautiful, brightly colored dresses, they were just gorgeous. Everyone tied good luck strings around each others wrists and I got one too. She said it was for good fortune and I thought I needed some of that! I only got to stay for an hour but everyone looked like they were having a great time and I was told that a lot of them hadn't seen each other in over 30 years!

Northwest Road Trip

After our Tahoe wedding, my husband and I went on a northwest roadtrip through Crater Lake, the Oregon coast, San Francisco and Yosemite. The weather was cool and sunny with just a little rain in Astoria, OR. When we drove through Baker, CA on our way back to Vegas, it was 121 degrees! I'll be dreaming of Oregon this summer...

This is my first blog. Vanessa & Kevin's wedding was on the day the forest fires started, ashes were falling on us while we were taking pictures. You can really see the smoke in the above image. None the less, they were a fun, relaxed couple and we got some great shots.
